My First eBook

As Michael Jordan once said, “Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise.”

When I began my self-taught web journey over 15 years ago, I rebuilt my web development knowledge from scratch using similar books although I had been doing static websites for many years prior. This solid foundation expanded my expertise which led to my internet ventures and much more.

Backstory

Many years ago, I contemplated writing an ebook when they weren’t as popular. I believe the Amazon Kindle was relatively new and the format intrigued me. However there wasn’t a buzz about ebooks around me and in my country, so I never sought it out since I felt it would be a waste of energy and time.

When I saw the trend starting to rise again in recent times I hesitated for a bit, but ultimately decided it was time. Technology had evolved and the audience had grown significantly, but I didn’t want to write just any ebook, it needed to be something I knew, was good at and brought value to others.

This is why I ultimately landed on the basics of websites. I realised a lot of people knew about websites and used them daily, yet didn’t really understand how they worked or what it requires for this technology to exist which still amazes me to this day.

I had been doing websites and venturing online for nearly two decades, I loved creating them and I had a good understanding and significant experience of the industry.

After learning in a similar way I knew I wanted to break down the intricacies of the websites, making it palatable for all to understand, since that seems to be the biggest deterrent in learning about the digital world.
